Such patients should be given enough time to get to know the ambient and the staff of the new practice. Moreover, they should be approached even gentler and more patient. The lost trust should be rebuilt because it is essential for the future cooperation between the patient and the dentist.<\/p>\n

Keeping our patients in mind, dental clinic \u0160kodaDENT is one of the first in Croatia to introduce the nitrous oxide inhalation sedation<\/strong>. This safe and harmless method helps the patients to overcome their phobia and to erase their trauma, so their dental problems can be easily solved.<\/p>\n

How does it work?<\/h2>\n

For all dental procedures the minimal dose of nitrous oxide is sufficient to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Remove fear and discomfort<\/li>\n
  • Cause comfort<\/li>\n
  • Relax the patient<\/li>\n
  • Make the patient feel \u201cheavy\u201d<\/li>\n
  • Minimize the gag reflex<\/li>\n
  • Reduce the feeling of passing of time<\/li>\n
  • Increase the suggestibility<\/li>\n
  • Diminish the trauma caused by the procedure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Bigger dose of nitrous oxide:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Decreases the sensitivity to pain<\/li>\n
    • Causes cheerfulness and euphoria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

      How is it administered?<\/h2>\n

      Nitrous oxide is administered mixed with oxygen, inhaled through a special nasal mask. The dose is adapted for each patient according to individual needs. The patient remains awake during the sedation and is able to communicate.

      How safe is it?<\/h2>\n

      The study of the Federal Association of Pediatric Dentists found only 8 cases of side effects (i.e. nausea) among 7145 sedations in a year.       • Patients who suffer from dental phobia or dental anxiety<\/li>\n
      • Patients who have a poor gag reflex<\/li>\n
      • Patients who require extensive or involved dental procedures<\/li>\n
      • Cooperating children who require extensive procedures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

        • Patients who cannot breathe through their nose<\/li>\n

        • Patients who suffer from claustrophobia<\/li>\n
        • Uncooperative children<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
